Who are we?
The Tour de Romandie is a stage cycling race that was founded in 1947 to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Swiss Cycling Union. The first edition brought together 40 riders across ten teams. At the time, there were only four stages on the programme and the total distance covered was 755 kilometres!
A prestigious and legendary cycling race, it has had a place of honour in the international calendar for some years now and thus attracts the biggest riders in the world. In 2006, the Tour de Romandie received the UCI ProTour label and, since 2011, has been part of the prestigious UCI WorldTour circuit, alongside the Giro d’Italia, the Tour de France and the Vuelta a España in particular.
The media impact of the Tour de Romandie goes well beyond Swiss borders. The event brings together all the French-speaking cantons as a single entity and represents a powerful driver for touristic and cultural promotion for the Romandie region. The show put on by the Tour de Romandie delights the greatest sports fans and the beauty of the landscapes crossed, which are enhanced by the televisual production, captivates everybody.
