RUE. Europe's smallest town hosts the second stage of the Tour de Romandie

An emblematic town in the Glâne district, Rue is a medieval village gracefully spread out at the foot of its famous castle, which overlooks the upper Broye valley. Once belonging to the Lords of Rue, the small town later became Savoyard before definitively passing into Fribourg hands in 1536. It housed bailiffs and other prefects until 1848. To discover its history, the tourist office offers a fun and educational trail: the Secret Circuit Street offers the opportunity to access austere and mysterious buildings. Stop for a while to discover this little gem. Southern Glâne is a cycling land. All enthusiasts will tell you so. In a green countryside still spared from urbanization, two-wheeled enthusiasts are in paradise! Off the asphalt, mountain bikers are also spoiled with more than 200 km of marked and well-maintained trails. As our song tells, the cobblestones will start singing. This time to welcome the Tour de Romandie. Welcome to Rue!

ARRIVAL: Vucherens

VUCHERENS BY MAIN AND BY FOOT

Vucherens is a charming little village of about 650 inhabitants, located in the Jorat region and belonging to the Broye-Vully district.

The region has everything to attract athletes, nature lovers, hikers, and cyclists. Various routes can be found here: walking paths through fields and forests, the Gustave Roud trail, and even the Camino de Santiago (via Jacobi 4). The latter makes a stop (a checkpoint) at the picturesque small chapel dating back to 1737. From the highest point, near the reservoir, we can admire both the Jura and the Alps mountain ranges, with the help of the orientation table.

We are twinned with the French village of Droiturier, in the Allier region, near La Palisse. Culturally speaking, by going up the valley for 4 km, we can benefit from the rich program of the Théâtre du Jorat, nicknamed the Sublime Barn. The municipality is served by several postal bus lines connecting Moudon to Lausanne; one of the stops is located next to the municipal inn, LES TROIS SUISSES.

Finally, Vucherens appears between the Bressonne and Carrouge rivers.

The inhabitants are called CHOUETTES.

Living in Vucherens is pleasant. Its geographical location allows you to benefit from the beauty of the landscape and the tranquility of the countryside, while being a stone's throw from the Vaud and Fribourg cities.

It's a good place to live, all the men will tell you because their wives are GREAT.
